Democrats did well on Tuesday... But the GOP....

by DeputyDemocrats did well in Tuesday's midterm elections, claiming a majority of state races. In our state, Democrats took the top two spots with Democrat Brad Henery, the incumbant keeping his seat. The race for Lt. Gov. was hotly contested, with many negative ads appearing on local tv stations. Canadiate Jari Askins of Duncan, convinced voters that she was not "too libreal for Okalhoma." Republicans in Southwest Oklahoma, captured state house seat for distrcit 62. T. W. Shannon defeated Lawton City Councilwoman, Janice Drewery for the vacant seat. In what some have called an upset for democrats, T. W. Shannon was able to defeat Drewery with the help of former Oklahoma Congressman J. C. Watts. In other races former City of Lawton Council member Randy Bass defeated his opponet Ed Petersen and kept his seat for another term. In another victory for the GOP in southwest Oklahoma, former educator Ann Coody, was also able to keep her seat in Oklahoma City. Mrs. Coody who a few years ago ran a positive campaign, agian did very well by voters, captureing two thirds or 66% of the votes in her district. It seems that voters across the nation, came out and supported both parties. Southwestern Oklahoma is no diffrent.
