What is Lawton City Councilman Keith Jackson trying to prove?

Rumors are that Keith Jackson wants to be mayor of the City of Lawton, Ok. But with some of his most recent comments on the okmet.org forums, I wonder what his motives are. I fear that Mr. Jackson, will make dealing with the unions difficult.

While it is true that I may

While it is true that I may have aspirations for a higher office. The fact of the matter is that we now have 3 unions that taxpayers will have to negotiate with. And I will represent the taxpayers ( who will ultimately have to foot the bill) to best of my ability. I have always made a vow to represent ALL employees equally. Anyone that has followed my voting record for the years of 1982-1992 and now, will see that I never favored one group over another. My feelings are that the children of the employee in the street of garbage or any other dept gets just as hungry as those of the higher paid positions and deserve equal benifits and pay increases. I have never thought "unionization" was the way to go for the taxpayers but now that we have them I will work with them. Keith

I would support Keith

I would support Keith wholeheartedly. I may not have a Lawton address, but say the word Keith, and I have a handful of voters voting for you...

I think members on the OkMet forums would gladly vote for you as well. The fact is that you are intently interested about getting the best for Lawton. You have taken the time to talk to us on the Internet, and this is admirable. Others have not taken the time to hear what we have to say.

What I have to say is that Lawton needs to push for downtown development, which it is, but more push could be used. I have also been advocating parks that are actually visible, and a number of other things. I feel most comfortable with someone who has seen and read my rantings, than I do about someone who says we need to be focusing on our seniors, not on growing an economically healthy Lawton.

Three cheers for Keith.
