For Sale

by Deputy
This past week, the Lawton City Council gave city staff direction to have a portion of some city property, on Bishop, appraised as a first step in having a portion of the land sold at a public sale. Perhaps one of the many buyers could take advantage of this. Who are interested in the three plus acres of land? One is the company who runs the Lawton Area Transit System. This company would then build a maintenance facility and then lease this same property back to the City. Take a look at the graphic above. Though a legal description was not published in the Lawton Constitution, Lawton Politics has been able to acquire a map of the area. The property in question, marked as "Zoe" was acquired some time ago in a land trade. One has to question what are the City's motives for wanting to sale this land, and then lease it back from a third party. What happens if the high bidder for the land is not the company who runs the LATS, but is someone else? This is, in our opinion, is a poor use of City resources and the City Council should take action to stop this now, and not sale off this property!
