NewQuest Announces Lawton Town Center
Located in the County Seat of Comanche County in southwest Oklahoma, Lawton Town Center is positioned 50 miles north of Wichita Falls and 80 miles southwest of Norman/Oklahoma City.
The 600,000 square foot retail development is strategically located on the west side of Lawton’s existing population growth, and frontage on 82nd Avenue, Quanah Parker Freeway and Cache Road provide excellent visibility and access off of Quanah Parker Freeway (the major arterial
connecting Oklahoma City and Wichita Falls).
The development is well-positioned to capture the underserved regional trade area and will also serve as a convenient shopping, dining and entertainment destination for consumers living in the immediate area. Proposed tenants for the development include Target, Kohl’s, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Old Navy and Petco. The Center is scheduled to open in fall of 2009.
According to 2000 Census data, the active population in the primary trade area was 123,807 and 232,698 in the secondary trade area. Average household income is estimated at $43,872.
More important to note is the explosive population growth that Lawton is experiencing; military population alone is forecasted to bring an additional $330 million in annual revenue to the local economy. This growth influx includes the addition of 12,000 to 20,000 trainee troops per year, 3,500 permanently stationed military personnel (mostly officers) anticipated in 2008, and 2,200 new jobs with the relocation of the Air Defense Artillery School at Ft. Bliss to the nearby Ft. Sill Army Post.
Existing national retailers in Lawton include Sears, Dillard’s and JCPenney, located in Central Mall in downtown. Also in Lawton are two Wal-Mart Supercenters, Sam’s Club, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Ross Dress For Less, Hobby Lobby and Carmike Cinema 8.
