Get Out and VOTE!!!

It is election time again and once again we will probably have a dismal turnout. Voter apathy everywhere is the highest it has ever been.

The races for Comanche County elected officials are the worst as most people that live within the city limits of Lawton do not think that the election of county offices concerns them. I am really astounded as to how many people think that. And then, generally, they are the ones that complain the loudest.

The reality of it all is that even though over 80% of the citizens of Comanche County live within the city limits the county offices affect their lives as well. Even the county commissioner’s on the east and west side boundaries cover quite a lot inside the city limits of Lawton, not just the areas outside of the city limits.

We need to also realize that change is also needed at times so that new ideas are brought to light that will improve the operation and efficiency of the offices.

One candidate claims to be a democrat… who cares!!! The office holder can not make laws and can not change laws. Their official duty is to uphold the laws that are created at the capital by our senators and representatives. Therefore the voter should look at the qualifications of each candidate and forget party politics. It is your tax dollars they work with. Wouldn’t you want the most qualified person in the office? And what makes a candidate that has worked in the office any better than someone new that might be able to bring new ideas to the office. Besides, that person who has worked in the office might have been trained and worked under the worst person for that office. They would probably follow the same old pattern that was bad to begin with. New ideas, fresh views and innovation might save you tax dollars so that taxes do not have to raised.

Another candidate is questioning why their opponent, a termed-out legislator who they call a professional politician, is running. Wouldn’t working in the court house for over twenty years be considered a professional government worker? Just because they were nominated to fill a post and running for office they can’t say they are not professional politicians. And what if they get elected and run for office again… are they not professional politicians? I feel their ad is very disappointing. Negative ads work for the morons but for the thinking voters why not run on a platform of what you have done and what you intend to do rather than bashing your opponent.

I hope that all registered voters will get out in force and vote for the best candidate for each office. It does not matter if the candidate is an incumbent or not. What matters is that the person elected will run their respective offices as efficiently as possible to maximize the citizen’s tax dollars your tax dollars.

Well the primary is over....

Well the primary is over.... and the results are pretty much as I had anticipated, only 18.4% of the registered voters went to the polls. What a disgrace!!! We send our soldiers to fight for the freedoms we enjoy but we, at home, take for granted everything they acheived for us in the past.

And as predicted, the city voters had the lowest turnout. The voters outside the city limits, as a percentage, voted to keep the incumbents and voted to keep Cindy Jackson's legacy of mismanament and poor performace alive. And McAdoo's significent other was elected after being appointed following his resignation. The cycle continues and continues.

Maybe Charles Miller might ask the question as to why Susan Ulrich had to take a test to be qualified to mix pesticides. Why did she have to take four other people with her. Why, when there were other locations to take the test, did she travel to a casino near Tulsa to spend the county's money? I wonder how many times she has mixed pesticides since spending thousands of, yours and mine, taxpayers dollars.

I wonder if Barbara Burke is as much a shopper as is Cinday Jackson. I wonder if Barbara will take most of each Friday off and go shopping in the mall with Susan as Cindy Jackson did. I also wonder ishe can tell the difference between 1/2 a point and 1/8 a point. Cindy Jackson does not know the difference and that is a point on record.

I don't wonder if the mismanagment will stop. I know it won't because the voters have decided to keep the status quo.

I cannot agree more about your vote.

I cannot agree more about how important it is to get out and vote. If you do not vote then you have no reason to bitch until after the next elections. So please I urge everyone to get out and vote!
