The city council finally had the intestinal fortitude to stand up to the Slum Lord of Lawton.
Finally the city council has taken action on the property as 1202 W Gore, owned by Bobby Mansell, that is a blight on our city.
I commend the city council. They said it would take a long time to resolve the issue completely but on any journey until you take the first step you cannot reach the destination.
The council has spoken and taken the first step on the journey. Let this be a notice to all property owners that have run-down property and abandon signs that htey need to clean up their act or face the same consequences.

Dirty Lawton
This is one of my pet peeves!!
One thing I hate about Lawton are the slums and thier owners. Lawton, for as much money is brought into this town, is one of the dirtiest towns that I have seen. Now let me just say this, there are a lot of areas in Lawton that have turned around, and I applaud them, but Lawton still needs help.
Take a look down Gore Blvd between 11th & Sheridan Rd and also 11th St between Gore and Lee. The shopping center just west of 11th St on Gore is decrypted and disgusting to look at. Most of the owners of these places are, not necessarily rich but are, wealthy and have their own cronies that help them in the county and or city. These people don’t care about the people that rent these homes or businesses. All they care about is the bottom dollar. Bob Shanklin is a prime example of those land owners. They either have served on the City Council or have someone on the Council in their pocket. Ever wonder why there have been so many buildings that are or look like they should be condemned? Well that is my point; those buildings hardly ever make it to the Condemned list because they always ask the city council for more time to clean up the mess (9-9-03 & 7-13-04). All of the city’s minutes are online for public view and you can go to the county tax office and view the files on land owners.
